Freedom Air started with a simple idea: time is the most valuable thing any of us have. Every flight we plan, every aircraft we manage, and every call we answer is built around protecting it.

Freedom Air began as a personal fix to a very ordinary problem. When Joe Chaulklin's wife relocated her manufacturing company from San Jose to Reno, the weekly back and forth on commercial flights quickly wore thin. Missed connections, long security lines, and entire days lost to travel added up fast.
Joe, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who spent six years in the aviation wing and later earned his pilot's license, started flying her over the Sierra Nevada himself. Those short hops to Silicon Valley made something clear: there had to be a better way for busy people in Northern Nevada to travel.
That idea became Freedom Air. After roughly 18 months of preparation, the company received its FAA operating certificate, and set up headquarters in the Stellar Aviation terminal on South Rock Boulevard in Reno. Joe brought in Ryan Dos Ramos as President to lead operations, and together they built a team of experienced pilots, maintenance professionals, and flight coordinators who share the same standard: safe, reliable, personal service on every trip.

private jet charter
On-demand flights on turboprops, light jets, midsize, and large aircraft. Business or leisure, one passenger or a full cabin, we match the aircraft to the mission.
Aircraft Management
Pilots, scheduling, maintenance, insurance, and compliance handled for you. When you're not flying, your aircraft can join our charter program, where revenue helps offset the fixed costs of ownership.
sales & acquisition
Buying or selling, we guide the deal from start to finish. Market search, records review, pre-buy coordination, and closing support, backed by a team that flies and maintains aircraft every day.
aircraft Maintenance
Maintenance programs and Epic warranty support that keep aircraft safe, current, and ready to fly. Our in-house team plans inspections and scheduled work, so our aircraft spend less time grounded and more time in the air.
Helicopter Services
Scenic tours over Reno and Lake Tahoe, plus quick corporate transfers to places like the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center and regional golf courses. Currently unavailable till Summer 2027.

Safety isn't a feature we add on, it's the foundation every flight is built on. Freedom Air operates under safety certifications, with experienced captains, recurrent training, and structured maintenance programs overseen by our Director of Maintenance. Every trip is reviewed before departure, from weather and runway capabilites, to crew duty time.

Our headquarters are in Reno, with team members in Las Vegas, St. George, Salt Lake City, San Francisco Bay Area and Palm Beach. These bases are where our people live and work, not a limit on where you can fly. From any of them, we coordinate trips across the United States, into Mexico, and throughout the Caribbean.

Today, Joe spends most of his time with clients and his team making sure every flight feels personal and every promise is kept.
